Milk is bad, mmkay?

An unusual site I found (via [info]vvalkyri): Milk Makes Me Sick. It's about a class action suit being filed against the dairy industry on behalf of the lactose intolerant. It's no surprise this site is run by The Physicians' Committee for Responsible Medicine, an extreme animal-rights, vegetarian-promoting organization. I have no objections to vegetarians or vegans; it's not my right or desire to tell you what to eat. But when you start making shit up and filing ridiculous lawsuits, that's a bunch of crap.

That's like the people with [info]celiac disease suing the people who grow wheat.

Gosh; what if someone was allergic to wheat gluten and lactose? No pizza or lasagna, to say the least... *shudders in horror*

Lactose intolerance is actually easy to work around. You can take a dietary supplement and eat dairy foods normally, or buy lactose-free products. They even make lactose-free milk for cats.

I knew about Lactaid and lactaid-laced milk, and have tasted alternative products like soy milk. (It's not bad when it's cold.) But I never heard about LF milk for cats.

Very true. Most people are somewhat lactose-intolerant and we deal with it every day. The bigger issue to me is: why the hell do we consume as much dairy as we do when we really don't need it after a certain age. The dairy industry clearly has a stranglehold on the government (not just the present administration, but all administrations), and the propoganda that they've been pushing for decades is just so ingrained in us that we don't even question the obvious lie that "milk is good." Really, cows milk is terrible for your intestines. we're just not designed to digest it like we are mother's milk. Apparently goat milk is way better for you.

I would agree with that, with the exception of Hostess' Choco-Bliss which I believe has been discontinued.
